Proud Supporter of...
Dear Debbie,
On behalf of the Hamlin Fistula NZ Board and our volunteer team, we would like to express our gratitude for your generous sponsorship of the 2023 High Tea for Hamlin event held last weekend at the Aldersgate Centre.
We were thrilled to have over 160 attendees, who enjoyed an afternoon of delicious food, a musical performance by the St Margaret’s Choir, raffles, an update and presentation from our Chair Joli Wescombe, an auction of two gift baskets kindly donated by Debbie Soper Harcourts, and a rather special auction item to finish the afternoon – a 10-week-old puppy!
We are so pleased to advise that over $20,000 was raised on the day through sales of tickets, bags, books, raffles and the auction and thanks to your generous sponsorship, this means that 100% of the ticket cost was a direct donation to continue the work Drs Reg and Catherine Hamlin started over 60 years ago to prevent and treat obstetric fistula.
Our team from the Zonta Club of Christchurch North worked tirelessly to bring together a fabulous afternoon and the food was deemed to be fresher and tastier than a local establishment offering High Tea at a much higher price. We were delighted to hear so many people comment that the High Tea for Hamlin is such a well-loved event on the social calendar in Christchurch, and that they would certainly be coming back again next year.
If you would like to see some photos of the event, please head along to our Facebook page @hamlinfistulanz and share them with your team.
We could not have done this without your support, so thank you
again for your kindness in partnering with Hamlin Fistula to continue
our mission to ensure all women are supported to deliver their babies
safely and without injury.
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Warmest regards,

Dear Debbie,
Please accept our sincere thanks for your generous support as gold sponsor for the High Tea for Hamlin @ the Cathedral. We are so pleased to announce that a wonderful afternoon was had by our 200 guests in a sold-out event and $30,000 was raised above and beyond our expenses! Your contribution is a significant portion of this success.
The Cathedral Choristers lifted our spirits with their soring notes and a passionate midwife, Christina Campbell inspired us with the story of her 1000km walk for Hamlin across Northern Spain. Our guests have expressed how much they enjoyed the upbeat atmosphere, the beautiful music and the ‘young people’ serving. One group expressed that they were “blown away” and will definitely be back next year. Our volunteer team pulled out their best this year, and there was enough food and drinks for half of Christchurch!
Your sponsorship helped turn the $45 ticket price of each guest into a $150 donation to Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia to prevent fistula. This $150 represents pregnancy, labour and delivery, postnatal care, well-childcare until five and family planning for six mothers and babies by our Hamlin midwives. And where there is a Hamlin midwife, there is zero fistula.
Thank you and bless you.
Warmest regards,
Joli Wescombe

Ronald McDonald Host a Roast + Cooking Dinner at Ronald McDonald House
Cooking at Ronald McDonald House with some of our fabulous colleagues. It is always a privilege supporting families who have had to relocate to Christchurch for their children's treatment or because of their premature babies. Stress is high and bodies are weary by the time they come back to the house after a long day. Having freshly cooked food ready waiting is one small thing we can do for them when they return tired and hungry and share some time talking to those who want to talk.
Can't wait to cook again. Little things can make a big difference.
